The Empty Stocking Fund is staffed almost exclusively by volunteers, with only 2 full-time paid staff members!
During the holiday season, The Empty Stocking Fund has a great need for volunteers. The main requirement? The simple desire to spread some holiday cheer and to help those less fortunate in your community.
We have two volunteer opportunities available during the holiday season: The Santa Village (our toy distribution center) and our Drive Day fundraising event.
THE DRIVE DAY EVENT
Many people think of teenagers as being selfish and self-absorbed, but the annual Empty Stocking Fund Drive Day proves that they are anything but. Every year hundreds of Junior ROTC cadets from area public schools give of their time and energy by scattering throughout the community and collecting donations for The Empty Stocking Fund.
Held at approximately 35 high schools in the metro Atlanta area, the Drive Day event will takes place during the first weekend of each December.
We need adult volunteers to assist us with running the fundraising event at the various schools. Our volunteers do not collect any money during this event!!!! You simply work at a school to help with on-site logistics such as passing out supplies and counting the money that the cadets have raised during the day. You can choose to volunteer one or both days.
If you'd like more information or to register for this event, please email us.
THE SANTA VILLAGE
The Empty Stocking Fund Santa Village is a great opportunity for civic and corporate groups looking for a way to spread some holiday cheer.
We need groups of five to 30 people (ages 13 and over) to assist us in passing out toys. The most pressing need for volunteers is for shifts that occur Monday-Friday. All shifts are scheduled on a "first-come, first-reserved" basis. If you have a company or group that might like to volunteer, please visit our Santa Village page for more details.
