The Empty Stocking Fund provides gifts to nearly 50,000 children in metro Atlanta. Please review the below information relative to your county of residence to determine if your children are eligible to receive gifts.
Nine Counties. 50,000 Children. Unlimited Joy.
Fulton and DeKalb County Residents
Children from birth through 12 years of age who receive Medicaid benefits from DeKalb or Fulton County Divisions of Family and Children Services (DFCS) are eligible to receive gifts from The Empty Stocking Fund. There is no application or registration process. In late November, parents or legal guardians of children who are eligible to receive gifts will receive an invitation to come to Santa’s Village to select gifts. Invitations are mailed to the name and address on file with DFCS as of October 15th. If you have not received an invitation by Thanksgiving, please contact us.
Please note, The Empty Stocking Fund does not currently serve children receiving SSI Medicaid or PeachCare for Kids.
Cobb County Residents
At the request of the Cobb County DFCS, The Empty Stocking Fund provides more than 1,500 gift packages to the Cobb Christmas program. For more information, please visit the Cobb Christmas program.
Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry, or Rockdale County Residents
The Empty Stocking Fund provides more than 3,500 gift packages directly to Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale county DFCS offices for distribution. In most cases, these gifts are given to children living in foster care or protective services. Please contact your county’s DFCS office for more information about their distribution process.
What to Expect on Your Visit
Bring your invitation and a photo ID with you. If you do not have your invitation, you will need to get in the ‘invitation replacement line’ before beginning the check-in process.
The first step is to check-in. A volunteer will validate your invitation and confirm your children’s ages and genders. They’ll assign you an order number to take with you to the showroom waiting area.
When your order number is called, another volunteer will walk you through the showroom where you will be able to choose two toys and a book for each eligible child (all children will receive three pairs of socks). All the items in the showroom are organized by gender and age, so it is easy to find the perfect gift!
Once you have chosen your gifts, your showroom volunteer will direct you to the gift distribution waiting area. While you wait, yet another volunteer will be picking your selected items from our warehouse shelves. When your order is ready, a volunteer will call your number, and together, you’ll double check that everything is correct. Then you’re on your way to a Merry Christmas.
